Ranked items
1Trump rejects Iran's plan on record, then says talks resume
High✓ VerifiedTrump said Saturday he rejected Iran's latest proposal, telling reporters Tehran wanted the strait opened immediately because it was losing badly; a day earlier the rejection existed only as an unnamed-official report. He then told Axios on Sunday he expects more talks with Iran this week, and two regional sources told Axios another indirect round could come as early as Monday, with Qatari mediators shuttling a compromise text. The gap is substantive: Iran's plan reopens Hormuz within seven days if the US lifts its blockade and oil sanctions and restores a regional ceasefire, while Washington wants nuclear concessions. Foreign Minister Araghchi told NBC Iran is ready for diplomacy or for war; UN Ambassador Waltz said Iran is miscalculating. Trump said he is always thinking about resuming strikes. This settles half of an open claim: the rejection is now on the record and VERIFIED; the report that he expects strikes after the midterms stays UNVERIFIED, because no timing statement has been located. Counter-evidence: mediation has not collapsed, and the rejection covered Iran's original text, not the compromise now circulating. Hormuz stays at DISRUPTION: Reuters' count for Friday and the weekend had not published at capture, Thursday's was nine against a ten-day average of 18, and no new strike was located over the weekend.
230-year trades above the stress trigger before the par close
High✓ VerifiedThe US 30-year traded at 5.525% to 5.529% early Monday on commercial quotes (Investing.com, CNBC), 2.5 to 2.9bp above the desk's Bond Stress trigger, with the 10-year at 5.22% and the 2-year at 4.92%, up 5bp, as oil rose and pressure on government bonds resumed; UK 10-year gilts traded near 5.41%. Only Treasury's par close counts, and Friday's was 5.49%, 1bp under; today's posts after 3:30 pm ET. Friday's commercial closes ran 1 to 3bp above par, so an intraday print above 5.50 has not yet been enough. A par close above 5.50 fires RED STRESS, and the next brief records it with Treasury's series as the receipt. The week's data can move it: August PCE Wednesday and payrolls later in the week, with about 70% odds of an October hike priced Friday (Trading Economics). Counter-evidence: Treasury's long-end buybacks continue, though Thursday's operation bought $4.08 billion of the $10.47 billion offered. Tracked input, not a trigger: MOVE closed 96.00 Friday with no new close since, while VIX closed 14.87, so bond volatility still runs well ahead of equity volatility.
3About 100 million XRP stolen from Bitget is on the move
HighPartially verifiedAn attacker took nearly 103 million XRP from Bitget on Thursday, Sept 24, in a breach Bitget now puts at $387.5 million across seven networks, up from a first estimate of $351.6 million; the exchange says its protection fund covers the loss and customer balances are unaffected. CoinDesk's review of XRP Ledger records found about 54 million of the stolen XRP had left the five original holding accounts by Saturday, with about 49 million still there. Native XRP cannot be frozen, by Ripple or anyone else; an exchange that receives it can restrict the receiving account. Why it matters for XRP: at Saturday's price the haul was worth about $160 million, about 4% of reported daily volume (CoinDesk), and the transfers show redistribution, not a measured sale. XRP was $1.51 Monday (CoinGecko), down about 2% in 24 hours; attributing that move to the hacker would be speculation. Bitget reopens bitcoin withdrawals today, ether Tuesday, USDT Wednesday and other tokens Oct 2, the group CryptoSlate reads as including XRP. The stolen-XRP count rests on one outlet's ledger review, so the item stays PARTIALLY VERIFIED until the desk reads the accounts or Bitget publishes its incident report. The desk missed this story: the breach was public before the Sept 25 and Sept 26 briefs, and neither carried it.
4Brent jumps toward $108 two days before the November expiry
High✓ VerifiedNovember Brent rose $3.98, or 3.8%, to $108.30 at 5:59 am ET (Reuters) after Trump's rejection of Iran's plan, and was about $106.18 around 9:45 am on Trading Economics; WTI traded near $94 to $96. The driver is the Iran stalemate, not supply: Kpler data show Middle East crude exports rebounded to 12.8 million barrels a day in September, the highest since the war began, with shipments through Hormuz set for about 7.4 million as Saudi Arabia shifted Yanbu exports to Ras Tanura after the East-West pipeline attacks. A monitored X account's figure of about 3.5 million barrels a day on the pipeline has no published source the desk could locate and is logged UNVERIFIED; Reuters' last read, Sept 24, had volumes building and tanker loadings not yet resumed. The contract roll matters this week: November expires Wednesday, and December, the front month the gauges read from Oct 1, traded near $100 after a $97.44 settle Friday. A December settle under $100 would open the backdrop count on the roll alone, and the desk will say so if it does. Reuters reports Europe's gasoil premium to Brent hit a record near $95 a barrel last week after Trump backed a US diesel export ban. Oil Shock stays at SHOCK; the improve marker is a settle below $90.00.
5Tokyo tells markets to take its yen warning at face value
High✓ VerifiedVice Finance Minister Mimura told Reuters Monday that markets should take at face value the very clear message Tokyo and Washington sent on the yen last week, and said he remains neither satisfied nor reassured by its moves; he declined to say whether Japan would intervene. Finance Minister Katayama and Treasury Secretary Bessent reaffirmed Friday that the yen's undervaluation is a concern. USD/JPY was about 157.18 around 9:45 am ET (Trading Economics), from a 157.28 close Friday and 2.82 yen under the 160 trigger (desk calc), with no three-yen session. Japanese yields kept climbing: the 2-year rose as much as 4bp to 1.975%, its highest since 1995 (Bloomberg), and the 10-year was about 3.10%; minutes of the BOJ's July meeting showed members stressing preemptive action because policy remains below neutral. First reading of a new tracked input: the US-Japan 10-year spread was about 213bp (desk calc, 5.227% minus 3.100%, both Trading Economics), from about 210bp Friday. A carry unwind shows as that gap narrowing while the yen rallies; Monday it widened slightly while the yen barely moved, which is not an unwind signal. Yen Carry holds at WATCH with its worsening arrow.
6Armada redemption window closes at 5 pm; the vote is Wednesday
Medium✓ VerifiedArmada Acquisition Corp. II public shareholders must deliver redemption requests by 5:00 pm ET today, two business days before Wednesday's meeting on the Evernorth merger (SEC prospectus). Redemption take-up is not public and will show up only in later filings. The trust held about $241.9 million on Aug 20, about $10.52 a share (CryptoSlate, from the proxy); every redeemed share is cash Evernorth would not have after closing. This is not XRP demand yet: Evernorth's cited position of about 473 million XRP combines tokens bought and contributions committed, the separate $30 million of PIK notes funds only if the deal closes, and the filings leave any purchase amount to management. The vote result is Wednesday's receipt; XRPN lists only if the deal closes and Nasdaq accepts the listing.
7Crypto slips with tech futures as the second flows week opens
Medium✓ VerifiedBitcoin fell to about $83,100 and XRP to $1.51 Monday, giving back part of Friday's rally, as Nasdaq 100 futures fell about 1% after OpenAI said it paused training on some of its latest models following incidents involving its AI agents on US government websites (Investing.com); S&P 500 futures were down 0.4% and gold fell about 3%. XRP ETF week two has no print yet: Monday's figure posts after the US close. The flows gauge needs a second week at or above $39.78 million by Friday's print to fire POSITIVE; a verified net weekly outflow fires WEAKENING. Last week's $75.60 million was the first qualifying week. Counter-evidence to the bullish read: last week's inflow has not held price, with XRP about 2% under Saturday's $1.54 stamp (desk calc).
8Sweep: an old RLUSD story returns; a SWIFT rumor has no source
Medium✓ VerifiedRipple and Securitize's BUIDL-to-RLUSD swap recirculated again this weekend on monitored X accounts and trade-press reprints presented as new; Ripple's press release is dated Sept 23, 2025, and the claim as a 2026 event stays CONTRADICTED. Posts promising a SWIFT and Ripple announcement today have no SWIFT, Ripple or ACI source; logged UNVERIFIED. Posts describing a Clarity Act Senate vote today match no Senate notice the desk located; cloture failed 49 to 50 on Sept 15, and the existing claim of a scheduled new vote stays UNVERIFIED. Citi and Coinbase expanded their stablecoin payments work for institutional clients, reported by the Wall Street Journal, which the desk could not read, and carried by CryptoTimes with a Coinbase executive quoted; it names no Ripple, XRP or RLUSD role and is competitive context for RLUSD, not an XRPL event. Engineer Nik Bougalis is back on the XRP Ledger codebase: his rippled pull request #8300, opened Sept 25, reworks core data types. It is open and awaiting review, so reports that he has deployed new ledger code overstate it.
